Our Mission
Our mission is to empower students to unlock their full potential by providing high-quality math tutoring at an affordable rate. We believe that every student deserves access to personalized learning resources and support that fosters their academic growth. Through our subsidized programs, we aim to remove financial barriers, ensuring that students from all backgrounds can receive the assistance they need to excel in mathematics and achieve their goals.
Your Impact
One tutoring session is typically the equivalent of 2.5 classroom sessions due to the personalized nature of tutoring. Many students’ struggles are not a result of a lack of effort, but the lack of equitable resources to help them succeed. The Above and Beyond Tutoring program will offer one-on-one tutoring sessions at a greatly reduced rate. For every $100 dollar donation, a student is equipped with the necessary resources to succeed.
What We Do
Above and Beyond Tutoring is dedicated to fostering equitable tutoring opportunities for at-risk students in Charlotte and its surrounding areas. Our mission is to bridge the gap by providing accessible, one-on-one tutoring services to students who may not have otherwise had access to such support. Through our program, we aim to empower these students on their academic journey and help them unlock their full potential.

Why We Do It
● In 2019, black fourth-graders’ average math scores were about 21 points below their white peers in South Carolina on the Nation’s Report Card

● Students of color are often concentrated in schools with fewer resources. Schools with 90 percent or more students of color spend $733 less per student per year than schools with 90 percent or more white students.

● Children of affluent families on average fared better than lower-income students during the Covid-19 pandemic due their access to private tutors and learning pods. Meanwhile, lower-income students were more likely to learn virtually with no parental supervision
